Today at the cafe, i got rly obsessed drawing someones shoulder blade because it was unusually defined.
Studying anatomy models, books, and theory is one thing - but im still amazed how the body does it thang - the more im able to recognize/identify the muscles in action it really blows my mind still.
I think, I clocked someones anconeus also which really stood out to me - but it could have just been the triangular dip that tends to form when the brachioradialus sticks out and causes the skin to dip near the ulna elbow.

everything has been hard lately including drawing so i haven't done much lately but this is from a while ago. i don't post on social media but i miss sharing art online with people. Does anyone have any good techniques or advice for getting back in the habit of drawing regularly ?

warmups, and what i mean more specifically is ensuring to keep in the habit of putting down like squiggles and random shapes on paper, doodling essentially, even on days you can bring yourself to draw. something extremely low pressure that mainly serves to get your hands used to moving this way again
make 1 audio file a day and post it here
it can be anything: music, narration, field recordings, sound effects, white noise, whatever you want to make and however u make it
including details about your process to induce discussion is very much welcome

just discovered someone uploaded my jam game to vndb to score it poorly and i was relieved to find that a sweetly invested gesture from a stranger instead of an upsetting one; but realized I should stop looking at these while I'm ahead, and that I have already gotten opinions on it from people I respect. I have always found that awareness of eyes on your art affects how you make it, and I think this has a negative impact on me if i'm aware of an audience during the creation process. How do you navigate protecting yourself from the response to your work online?

It's also good to remember audience spaces are for audiences and peer spaces are for peers. It's healthier to not read reviews on vndb, Goodreads, whatever bc it's the readers' business not genuine feedback channels business

i think i came off more negatively than i meant to; i have a lot of leftover hurt from friend and family's disinterest in things i make, my oldest peers all stopped making things at some point and i am still surprised when they acknowledge something i've done. i think i am having trouble navigating identifying when someone is audience or peer or friend(does not intend to make things) or friend(won't read/play/do what you make) or friend. im so glad someone would Care enough to put my game on vndb in contrast to no audience at all, but at that moment realized i need to be careful where i look so i dont get in my head about it and thus distracted from continuing to make art for the purpose of self expression. i have started to think that anyone i know who is in some way trying to distract me from making and sharing art with/for other people is my enemy and acting like this has been beneficial even if it's hamfisted. and sometimes that enemy includes myself forgetting i get to choose who i care what they think

i dont have any firm plans atm cos i dont rly have any one to work with. im interested in docufiction atm (we watched close-up and nirvanna the band the show the movie this year) and id like to film a short about people who live on a superfund site. sort of "day-in-the-life" mundane interview footage intercut with bleak/empty looking polluted vistas. i got a new camera the other day so maybe ill be able to shoot some test footage for this when if/when we go up to taipei this august
for some reason (it seems like something someone would've done by now!!) no one to my knowledge has done a weirdo docuseries about their own transition so i'm tempted to fill that niche. no plans to share it anywhere public i'm mainly personally curious if it's a concept that holds up to how interesting it is in my head
i've been working on an animated short film within strict parameters (800x600, mouse drawings in ms paint only) to iron out a pipeline by which i can actually produce animation because all bespoke animation software sucks way worse to me than just assembling drawings frame by frame in vegas. im approaching it as something to complete at my leisure

I've been on a printmaking adventure this week! I've been learning about how to do cyanotypes for the first time, and I've been slowly inching along learning what to do and what mistakes I've been making ... I don't love the attached file, but I think I know what I did wrong!
There are so many steps!!! It feels like I went from cooking with my normal paintings, where I can kinda just muddle together shapes I like, and it'll end up coming together one way or another as long as there's spices I like in it, to baking where of any step is a little bit off everything afterwards gets skewed further and further off course. It's interesting, just scary!
Tonight I have a couple more prints to shock blue, and then I'm gonna draw some more transparencies to expose later tomorrow... I need to buy some more paper too, and maybe some white shirts? Who knows!
