Today at the cafe, i got rly obsessed drawing someones shoulder blade because it was unusually defined.
Studying anatomy models, books, and theory is one thing - but im still amazed how the body does it thang - the more im able to recognize/identify the muscles in action it really blows my mind still.
I think, I clocked someones anconeus also which really stood out to me - but it could have just been the triangular dip that tends to form when the brachioradialus sticks out and causes the skin to dip near the ulna elbow.
this is a redraw of my cafe drawing - and referring to the model, it says I was seeing the humerus - it rly stood out on that person's arm. so Ig i haven't been able to quite clock the anconeus irl yet...
one thing I rly struggled to wrap my head around (while drawing at cafe today) was how the trapezius covers so much of the upper back but doesn't seem to define any lines - the shoulder blades do. SO i rly tried hard to draw this girls trapezius in relationship to her shoulderblade... kinda felt like shooting into the dark a bit - like guessing i know its supposed to start around here and insert over here... but I want to have more clear understanding...

people's bodies are absolutely always stranger than you expect. ive been trying to sketch my classmates faces recently and the way their eyes sort of recess into the skull gets me everytime

cafe redraws. (i dont have scanner setup but I like to redraw my cafe drawings to feel them out)
When I get stressed or I don't have a lot of time, I usually draw in KIDPIX or with binary brushes. I don't really have a lot of time ever, though, now that School has started-up again.
Lately, I've been doing this thing where I try to draw and scribble out a wire-frame and some hair at 30% transparency, and then I go over everything at 100% opacity. It looks kind of scratchy, but I think that's basically my secret sauce.

warmups, and what i mean more specifically is ensuring to keep in the habit of putting down like squiggles and random shapes on paper, doodling essentially, even on days you can bring yourself to draw. something extremely low pressure that mainly serves to get your hands used to moving this way again
