I'm looking to get goth boots to better stomp on girls (/j, or am I 👀)

Very new to the world of goth/alt fashion and looking for suggestions/advice.

I'm in love with the idea of Demonia Camel-305 boots (pictured). I do question though how much of an ordeal it would be to take them on/off.

US Size 12 women's btw

I have some demonias (i like that the 5 inch platform makes me 6 foot 5), but after i got some like really nice regular boots (Thursday brand) I can really notice how uncomfortable they are comparatively. It's nice that Demonia has lots of size availability for girls with bigger feet like me (size 11 womens). But def they are for occasional parties as opposed to general use, they are expensive and not that high build quality.

File: image.png (2.37 MB, 1280x1280)

i got a pair of demonias on depop the other day because they are the only ones who make boots in mens 14 and i will literally never be able to wear womens' boots lol. i've wanted big chunky goth boots forever. we'll see how they hold up

Those are cool ones! I hope they treat you well

Yes i have heard about the shitty quality, but unfortunately I can't find anything else in a similar price range in Canada

>>3msyh5yq4ol2m

I looked at Thursday just now and im heartbroken that two boots im interested in only go up to size 10 in womens

dropped cheese? Σ(;゚Д゚)

>>3mr727rl6432g
ground beef and thin slice onions cooked very hot pan you want it to get crispy and then cheese on top, this is a recipe where american cheese is actually optimal but i didnt wanna buy some cause it would go unused in my fridge so i did cheddar and it tastes good but you lose that gooey textural component of junk food. and then bun with ketch and mayo and tomato and lettuce on top. insanely simple its good if you want cheeseburgers at home but dont have an amazing flat top for it. also i wish i had a better bun available, i think something like a banh mi bun with sesame seeds would be perfect

need me some of that rn

i've been struggling with intense anxiety around time management lately.

i work a part time retail job that leaves me with a decent amount of free time (depending on the week), but trying to figure out how to use it is agonizing. whenever i have a day off, i always feel so overwhelmed by the amount of things i wanna do (art, video games, language learning, etc.) that it paralyzes me and i just end up laying in bed all day. it also just makes me more anxious trying to choose something to do knowing my time is limited, and that i'll have to go back to work soon, and that i could be called in to cover a shift at any time.

i've flatlined on basically all my hobbies and passions as a result. i've barely done any drawing or writing or any other creative activity. my language practice has lagged severely. even more passive activities like reading or gaming or watching movies has been difficult. all i've really had the focus for is work and chores, and scrolling pretty much fills the rest of my time.

is there anyone else here that deals w/ this? how do you carve out time for the things you care about without getting stuck in the stress loop? i would appreciate any advice or techniques or even just to commiserate with others.

File: image.png (525 kB, 484x484)

if you can't directly reduce the work and stress in your life it helps to get better at dealing with said stress so it doesn't become the thing that occupies your time.

my usual remedy is to institute habits of meditation, exercise (you have to find a way that works for you - my drug is running) and devotion. when i find myself feeling overwhelmed by stress, i've usually neglected one of them. . these may not all be palatable to you.

if the clinical way is your style, you could try seeing a specialist. there are some that specialize in workload management. there is medication. not to dissuade you - i personally found this pursuit useless because my problem came from within and it was something i had to work on with utter self love

best of luck

>>3msttushzie22
thank you for your response! it's definitely more a problem within myself than it is with my workload, so idk if the clinical path will help much either. i think that part will improve once i can find a better job.

i'd be rly curious to hear you talk a bit more about devotion and how it helps for you. exercise would definitely be good i think - there's lots of forest trails near my apartment that i should be utilizing. meditation is something i've tried a few times too but i've never been able to get into a consistent rhythm with it. i'd like to try practicing that more also.

ill go first. i had a dream i was a teacher for super-children, and i had to teach them how to fly...

(6 replies omitted. View full thread)

woke up very hungry from dream:

ai funeral subscription service where you practice morning living people to gain a better perspective on life and grow closer to those in yiur family, like some kind of therapy. "why didn't anyone know his favorite color of watercolor?" as an example of finding a blindspot in your love/knowledge of your child.

also included some kind of system where a smaller person would slip jnto this big shirt with another larger person so that they could hug and console you while being "adult size" for anyone. 2000s infomercial energy. ai generated photos and eulogies of the "deceased"

My dreams have a bizzare level of sensory accuracy to them. I can taste, smell, hear music and feel pain. I often get so pulled in by this that I'm completely unaware I'm dreaming while having full autonomy within the bounds of the dream. Last night I was dreaming I was repairing a heater and I burned my finger on a a part that was getting hot and shouldn't have been. I remember muttering to myself that it was designed by a moron. It felt like a real burn and running my fingers under cool water felt real too. I think that if I didn't feel pain, the illusion would have broken. Having realized I was dreaming, I would have tried to force something to happen. The dream would "break" from my attempt at lucidity and I would wake up. Lucid dreaming feels tantalizing close.

File: aug072026 dream.png (143 kB, 332x487)

My friends barged into my room without warning, seating themselves comfortably wherever. I yanked the blanket up to cover myself, but unwittingly we were then chatting away like usual. It wasn't until minutes in that I realized I was still ill-dressed.
I endured the surging interest in my pajamas and slipped out toward the bathroom to change. Behind me, I heard them greeting a some new girl that had arrived.
"Whoa, you changed fast.”
“Yeah vaurzi, when did you get so tall?” laughter.
By the time I had finished plotting revenge and walked back in, the room's attention was once again back to me. One friend complimented my outfit, putting too much emphasis on how cute I looked. (Any amount is too much, I’m not cute...) Another just went for it and questioned my age outright.
This is when I started shouting.

Even in my dreams, I’m apparently not safe from real life teasing… (゚血゚#)

I was showing someone my collection of books in The Familiar series by Mark Z. Danielewski. This was a person who had already read House of Leaves and I was like, "hey, did you know he wrote these books as well? They're unfinished because it wasn't economically feasible; for practical and thematic reasons I wish he wrote it as a webnovel."

"Dreams where I just explain what I feel about something to someone" has become somewhat of a theme lately for some reason.

i tend to not remember much of dreams. i think i was swinging a halberd around recently, to what end i don't recall.

I'll start with a weird hormone levels issue I'm having.

Weird high testosterone AND estradiol bloodwork

Been on injectable EV mono for 9 months. For the first 6 months i was taking 2.3mg / 4 days, and for the past 3 months, ive been taking 3.0mg/5 days (very slight increase)

After 3 months, my peak levels (i know, weird nurse) were 250pg/mL E2 and 25ng/dL T.

After 9 months, my peak levels were 450pg/mL E2 and 120 ng/dL T.

I'm getting another bloodwork done in 3 months, both peak and trough this time. Also i'm switching back to 2.3mg EV / 4 days.

I'm wondering if it makes sense to anyone that my E2 is quite high and my T is too high. I expected my peak E2 to be a little higher because 5 vs 4 day cycles but this seems like a lot

(2 replies omitted. View full thread)

what ester? i assume EV = estradiol valerate seems aligned with the ups and downs you're experiencing. after switching to enanthate my levels got a lot more stable. would recommend that if you can get your hands on it.

not everyone can get good T suppression on monotheraphy. any reason why no anti androgen?

It was working fine before without AA, it just turns out taking biotin supplements within a few days of hormone bloodwork can fuck up the results. So really I have no idea what my current levels are.

And EV's high peaks and low troughs can be mitigated by taking it often, such as on a 4 day cycle

>>3msc4gkcci226
>And EV's high peaks and low troughs can be mitigated by taking it often, such as on a 4 day cycle
two preparations giving equivalent total estradiol exposure won't necessarily have the same potency, because spikier curves may "waste" some of their peak against saturated estrogen receptors and drop off quickly. this has two effects. the trough you often see with valerate can cause your body to produce T in the absence of estrogen. flatter curves (like enanthate) mitigate this, and are also more efficient per unit of total exposure. since we don't usually have a way to monitor our levels daily flatter and even is generally less risky

not saying you're doing anything wrong - but i'm just someone who is very much concerned about doing the best thing possible

Makes sense. I'm not doing DIY for now and compounding pharms where I am on have EV

finally got access to a vial today while waiting on an order to come through. the market for diy rn feels a little dubious, i'm concerned. i had already missed shots for a few weeks as a result of delays, which hasn't been good.

i would really like to get better about avoiding nostalgia bias while not discarding like 'past wisdom' or whatever, either as a creator or an audience. i want to be able to like, distill lost essences i come across and put them into my own taste and work but really understand like, what got passed over by the march of time instead of just dipping into this well of comfort/familiarity over and over again.

i go back to old things i have loved and sometimes they suck, but sometimes they are really good. and part of me is like... well. that's nostalgia. obviously i dont want to be hypervigilant about it to my detriment but you see enough examples of people whose tastes crystalize and then never develop further and i'd hate for that to be me. it's boring and like, i don't know, you can see how it informs a lot of peoples' worldview - everything was better when i was a coddled ignorant child unaware of the world's problems.

on the other hand every now and then i'll play an old game i never played before and there's often something special about it. or like, idk, i played super metroid for the first time a few years ago and it's good. like wow. well loved SNES game is good i guess. but also: some of this is surely just a general nostalgia for a time period or a vibe that i enjoyed and am now drilling into.....

i wouldn't say it's a crippling compulsion, but it's often in the back of my mind. i guess it's a similar impulse to wanting to avoid popular things so that you can seek out things that are less explored. it can be good, but then also, your values can start getting a bit warped, seeking novelty over actually taking time to understand things ...

it all feels a bit stupid. i value being precious about this sort of thing but then i also feel like maybe i'd just be better off otherwise lol. i don't ever want to have too big an ego about this stuff, but, but...

what helped for me was to realize i could decouple the feeling of nostalgia from the object its directed at. whether its a childhood favourite that sucks or a childhood favourite that rules, i find more value in holding onto my experience and memories of the thing rather than the thing itself. i mean, art is such a mercurial phenomenon. it feels like every time i return to something i enjoyed before, whether it was 10 days or 10 years ago, it's a completely new experience. and more often than not, my opinion is especially coloured by the context i experienced it in (example: i feel little nostalgia for SimCity Creator on the Wii, but lots of nostalgia for playing it in my mom's old living room).

idk. i get the fear of falling into the trap of comfy insularity too, but i don't see a reason to be afraid of your taste crystallizing unless you're really just dedicated to passive consumption and hostile to any alternative. in truth, we all gotta find our own middle path between permanent novelty and permanent familiarity. the best thing to me isn't just to have lots and lots of new experiences, or a bunch of old experiences frozen in time, but to have a unique set of experiences built over a lifetime. of well-trodden classics and newer boundary-pushing works and even all the awkward outdated memories that still linger. it's cultivating that shameless eclecticism that counts the most i think.

i dunno if this makes sense or if i'm just rambling bcuz it's late and i'm high, but this is how i like to think about it at least.

pic related (game i loved as a kid that still whips ass to this day)

>>3mscqqxtdiu22
all this has really shifted for me as i've gotten older. i don't know exactly when but i feel like i understand art and stories so much more than i did 10 years ago

>>3msd6jyudb226
yeah it is about the path i guess right? like you're building a unique experience as a human and there are lots of ways to do that

Brands and media companies appeal to nostalgia for nostalgia's sake... I'm as sick as anyone of "remember this movie? what if we remade it?". But at the individual level, looking back on old books/games/movies, I'd rather think of it as thoughtful retrospection; I find that meeting with old favorites becomes an interesting exercise when you consider that something – yourself – has changed since the last time you met. It's splitting hairs... but I feel like nostalgia is to drag old things into the present unchanged whereas retrospection is to bring yourself back to those old things and see in them something new. The market pandering to nostalgia builds a lot of cynicism in me but I don't want to apply that same cynicism to my own interaction with past works.

Italo Calvino: "For the fact is that the reading we do when young can often be of little value because we are impatient, cannot concentrate, lack expertise in how to read, or because we lack experience of life. This youthful reading can be (perhaps at the same time) literally formative in that it gives a form or shape to our future experiences, providing them with models, ways of dealing with them, terms of comparison, schemes for categorising them, scales of value, paradigms of beauty: all things which continue to operate in us even when we remember little or nothing about the book we read when young. When we reread the book in our maturity, we then rediscover these constants which by now form part of our inner mechanisms though we have forgotten where they came from. There is a particular potency in the work which can be forgotten in itself but which leaves its seed behind in us... For this reason there ought to be a time in one’s adult life which is dedicated to rediscovering the most important readings of our youth. Even if the books remain the same (though they too change, in the light of an altered historical perspective), we certainly have changed, and this later encounter is therefore completely new."

I do like your idea of trying to find out what it is about past art that gave it a certain feel, rather than just believing that it was inherently better. Putting actual thought and dissecting your favorite books, movies, albums, etc. could help you put words to your tastes and as a result help you find more new things that you'd like too.

That's something that I think separates people who are stuck in the past, versus people who just like to visit it for the experience. People who tend to be obsessed with nostalgia only ever talk about how things were better back then, and suck now without diving into why any further than "it had soul." They're usually just passive consumers who are put off from trying anything new, simply because it's unfamiliar to them. Once you start to find out the parts you do like from past media, you can easily find artists/authors who are inspired by them or replicate a certain feel without it being a direct rip-off of the original.

The first annual atchan summer thread!

Cool off your pets! Water-cool your robotic pets! Come share your cool summer experiences while you’re staying cool…

Starting it off, I’ve been remaining positive despite facing near triple digit temperatures this past week. Recently I’ve been making time to go swimming which remains one of my favorite activities. Besides that, I’ve honestly tried to stay indoors as much as possible… (;゚∀゚)

im doing my best not to run the AC and it kills me sometimes. just sitting in front of a box fan in my underwear all day ... my computer is Not helping whatsoever but i gotta gamedev.....

>>3ms2rad7lyk2t
I completely relate to that, especially the PC running hot. Acquiring a fan this summer was a lifesaver.
I hope everyone appreciates summer as much as I do, as there's plenty reasons to like all of the four seasons! For example, I know how much I look forward to those cool showers whenever I finally get home. \(^o^)/

File: image.png (881 kB, 1440x1080)

i feel very fortunate to live in a temperate climate. we had a hot week a month ago but it's been very pleasant 70-80s here. in exchange for this we get infinite rain any other season

File: signal-2026-08-02-21-44-38-809_006.jpg (375 kB, 1200x1600)

we really like the bugs... well, some of them. not the mosquitoes and stuff lol. but especially in early summer we like seeing all the dragonflies and wasps flying around. oh and the cicada song too!!! and getting to go out and find all the little exuviae from when they emerge hehe. in 2022 we actually got to see a cicada molt from its nymph form right on our doorstep and it was so cool... we watched it for hours. i've attached one of the pics we took... the way the secondary eyes shine like gems is so beautiful

summer is probably our favorite season despite the fact that the temps here are actively hostile to life... it's mostly that we have a lotta memories associated with the season

I wanna go outside but it's been raining constantly over the past few weeks. I just want to go for a hike with a clear blue sky! ヽ(`Д´)ノ

Incidentally, I think anyone who is looking for an opponent could benefit from a thread that does this but my friend Tamago is a tournament-level player and has been looking for an opponent, but is kind of shy about the idea of using an imageboard.

I'd asked him if he'd be comfortable with me putting up a little flier, and he said he'd appreciate that.

He plays Guilty Gear Xrd and Accent Core +R, but also Melty Blood.

You can hit him up at "tamagogangan" on BlueSky or Discord.

Something like this?

I'm speculating still that the small dots might be numbers; if they are, small dots in the center of the Semaphore Position might denote "Number" too - I've noticed that, at least in this transmission, the dot is only in letters 1-9 and 0.

Unfortunately, that doesn't explain what the struck circles are, so maybe I'm wrong here.

Notably, "Bravo-Zulu" or BZ is usually semaphore for "Congratulations" or "Good Job".

Potential for one of the bottom bullets, which seems to just be "BZ" to essentially be "Congrats".

I doubt it will be relevant, but the other half of Semaphore was Pennant Code - just in case we need it, it's here for reference.

... I was puzzling about this in bed this morning realized the file is named "Basic Arithmetic" and so, I've probably got this inside out, and this is a set of small math-problems.

I think I've got it inside out, and these letters are predominantly their semaphore number equivalents.

It occurs to me I misidentified 'Golf' as 'Zulu'.

Is that 5 A 5 with "A" as a shorthand for 'Addition'?
5+5?

7 D 3 with "D" (or maybe zero?) as a shorthand for 'Division'?
7 / 3?
7 0 3 ?

I haven't figured out the branching mid-link dots; if it's mirroring the semaphore position, the linking dots might be '12' and '3'

3 (some sort of branching operation symbol involving '12' and '3') = 9 ?

Maybe it is appending extra numbers to a lead number, and it's 312 or 33?

I think the bottom row is:
2 7 6 4 or perhaps 2 7 6 0 .

1 (some sort of branching operation symbol involving '18' (?) and '2'(?) ) concluding in an arrow?

The last symbol, 'H'/'8' with three terminating branches leads me to believe the 'x's may represent a zero value or something.

Maybe that's 8,000?
