it's nice to see so many people already using the board. i'm dedicated to steward this place to wellness. with time and effort, hopefully it can be a home to many.
there are features still to be added, in order of priority:
- backend hardening for validation of data DONE!
- video upload DONE!
- audio upload DONE!
- italic, bold, spoiler, strikethrough, color and other fun text formatting features DONE!
- heyuri-style kaomoji picker DONE!
- emoticons
- a mascot for the board. all boards have mascots, you know? DONE!
anything else you'd like to see added? is this your first message board, or are you a veteran?
veteran. would be nice to have sage or equivalent to not bump threads. auto-refresh is maybe an optimistic forward looking feature. thread watcher is also good but we are getting into browser extension territory

it only renders them if you have already confirmed you want to see nsfw boards - try nuking your cookies. it should not be there

Support for sound posts would also be great. This would load a sound file from an external site when it is included in square brackets in an image name and play it back when the image is expanded

These are just some preferences I have for my imageboard browsing experience and don't seem very popular with others, but it'd be cool if there were options for:
>disabling image expansion
>disabling quick reply popup
>quote/backlink popup anchored to the quotelink rather than following the cursor
>themes, especially one similar to 4chan's Photon theme
And some things that could be fun in general but I have no idea if could be implemented:

the last two are a little harder - data on the protocol is public, so there essentially is no promise of anonymity beyond obscurity. i don't want to give people a false sense of security by offering features that cover up that fact.

Understandable, definitely see the issue with potentially misleading people about just how private the site is or isn't. Cool project here overall, by the way. I like hanging out on smaller, alternative imageboards and it's been sad to see people over the years stop using heavily-modified wakaba or some homemade software and just throw up largely-untouched vichan on a server and call it a day. I've also actually had "federated messageboard" sitting in my notepad file of vague ideas I'm never going to get around to for almost 2 years so it's cool to see something similar crop up and prove it's actually maybe doable. If I ever do it. Which I won't.

Thanks. I guess I should have specified that what I'd like to see happen when image expansion is disabled is for clicking the image to open fullsize in a new tab. Disabled QR and ref-anchored quote previews are working great, though.

e: just used the site not on mobile for the first time and i see that the homepage functions as basically an overboard so that's nice. it would be convenient to be able to expand that view some more on mobile to be full width maybe (´￢`)
forced light/dark theme based on the users device is cringe, i suggest a button to let the user turn it on/off
reasoning: i use a darkreader keybind to turn off light/dark on a site and this interferes wtih that and clearly the whole world revolves around me
also no other site ive ever used does this
