i feel like it takes some vulnerability revealing one's desktop.. like showing off your room. i don't think about how it looks very often. i fucked up some dlls some time ago and all my window decorations are permanently 100% transparent, which i don't think about much but it's funny when someone else tries to use my computer and struggle to know how to close windows

this is more or less how mine looks of late. nothing fancy ig - i3 on deb. Usually i work on midgrey solid background but have bee using a felt texture just cuz I wanted to have some fun a bit.

ours is kind of a mess rn... we should probably clean it up some (this goes for our entire file system but aaa i don't wanna sort through all our hundreds of gb of stuff (;´Д`) )

this is my desktop; i'm a big fan of atmospheric scifi/cyberpunk wallpapers. The one on the left is from https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/102940261, of lena from eighty six; the one on the right is from https://www.artstation.com/pranetoid. I quite like their work
Some day I'll stop procrastinating and clone over my old sway config to make things a bit more how I like them...(๑-﹏-๑) but for now i'm pretty okay with plasma
(the right screen is just blurred because its my chat monitor screen, and this was just an old screenshot i had on hand, i'm not home this week so I can't take a new/proper screenshot)
it looks like this most of the time. im very utilitarian - indistinct wallpaper, dock on the left because it gives you more vertical space. i have 100000 things open at all times and i dont use workspaces. maybe this is why i like mac, its unix-ish but nothing to fiddle with. love my mess though.

and here's my laptop. I use this quite a bit more day-to-day, since I prefer to not sit at a desk once i'm off work usually. I try to keep my desktop (icons) less cluttered than it used to be, but my workspace still feels cluttered with overlapping windows all the time anyway. i'm trying out this wallpaper lately, I think its quite nice https://twitter.com/iiibanah/status/2067443969940976047

I get that reluctant feeling, but I had to learn to delete anything that I couldn’t bring myself to sort. It was painful at first, but I do have a greater appreciation for what remained! It’s a surprising how much a clean digital environment improves mood and efficiency. Ask Nano (my computer), and she definitely appreciates it!

like what the hell is daz 3d. why did we have it. it was apparently on our computer for 2 years and we never once touched it and don't remember downloading it. good riddance lol
i feel safe here. your homes are also special beautiful nice and roomy
posting my desktop really does give me that urge to quickly tidy as much as i can akin to having guests over. but heres mine.

It's one of the default themes for the browser Seamonkey. The Mozilla branding was custom-made by me. I don't actually recommend using the browser because it's very old and incompatible with some websites. (;ﾟ∀ﾟ)

Combined image. Arch, KDE Wayland, Plasma 6.7.3. Using Kitty terminal for the tiling and two tabs, shown in the image. Background is waywallen with the wallpaper engine plugin (background is called "Blue", art by pixiv.net/en/artworks/85666544). Hyfetch for the system info, there's dwarf fortress from github.com/DFgraphics/Phoebus (it's running in tmux). bottom right is cmatrix | lolcat. the "ll" command is aliased "eza -la --git --git-repos --icons=always --color=always --hyperlink --header --short-nix -s extension --no-quotes", catppuchin-mocha theme. the "websiteicon" is one of my own scripts i'm working on. terminal starter thing is oh-my-posh. Second tab, we havd "btop", also using catppuchin-mocha theme. bottom left is cava, same theme. on the right is pipes.sh | lolcat. Taskbar has Kurve for the visualizer, Advanced Weather Widget. Website icons I are just xdg-open links to sites I frequent :)

my Debian install is so jank I should probably just get something else and rebuild it from the ground up

I use my Steam Deck docked for like 90% of the stuff I do on a computer nowadays, it just pushes out so much less heat than my machine with a 2080 Ti lol
