One of the things I find myself really concerned with (and I don't have an outlet for my hyperfixation often) is really beautiful anime scenery.
I really like environments and structures; I hope you'll share some settings and places you like with me. I'm probably going to turn my phone upside-down and shake until my folder feels lighter.
Lain's Room is one of the coolest most cluttered spaces ever drawn. It has the sauce. It oozes dysfunctional hyperfixation and technicality.
This one came from an old and really cool Japanese Twitter/X User who used to paint really Gundam figures, but like - they were really fucked and had all of their technical components (I.E. shock absorbers, booster verniers) very detailed. The paintjobs he gave them were always battered, worn, and had rust-streaks at their seam welds.
Anyways - this piece he reblogged once is a reclaimed oilrig, seemingly part of a display called 'Steel Islands' - I thought it was really eye-catching. I like my rust. I also just really like the way the water is inset like a slice of lasagna.

A little kemo-kemo kitchen from an artbook I'd saved.
I love the big round brick oven and all the care rendered to the cooking utensils; I don't know how on topic one typically stays with this stuff (I was always a lurker...) but there was a follow-up page I had saved that depicted some of the food this place was expected to cook. It's got a beautiful Ghibli / MoHun quality to it, but I don't know if it's neccessarily 'scenery' per se.

Oh yeah. This feels like the first time I'd seen 'Rocket Town' in Final Fantasy as a kid.
Love that watercolor skyline. I wanna crawl into the mausoleum-type door and scurry up the rocket like a tower I could live in.
Stuff like this makes me wanna build houses in Terraria.
Um, this last one I'm gonna post before I run is a map CG from 1999's "Septerra Core". The success of Final Fantasy VII really colored it (they basically advertised it by saying, 'If you liked VII, you'll enjoy Septerra Core') but in addition to have a really beautiful like, armillary-sphere styled world that continues to occupy my imagination, it also featured a lot of gritty bars and stuff.
This is a map-panel depicting one such slimy bar.
If I remember correctly, you go here to get full-body tattoos that make you look like the goddess of love, to try and seduce a evil knight (embarrassingly named Connor) who is kind of a weak expy of Don Corneo.
The Dorohedoro anime has some really fantastic backgrounds

the whole "frontispiece" sequence in laputa castle in the sky is something i love so much
tenchi muyo movie has some really good bits. anime films from this era where stuff was hand painted can be really nice
