yea, over in japan 'visual novel' is actually just a specific trademark iirc, so its not the actual most common means to refer to these games
i love saying Novel-style Adventure Game becuase it's a mouthfull, but also adds the helpful clarity that i'm not talking about a leaf or type/moon product :3
