recently went thru d1's catalog, this track is really nuts to me cus its from 2006 but sounds like 2010-12 night slugs.
pic related its my wub bass. (or half of it.. technically i use 2 of the same synth routed to different mixer channels, 1 lowpassed at around 200hz (depending on key) for sub and one with the higher harmonics for wubs)
the vip of this tickles me cus its pretty similar to the original mix but it has way more fm playing in the middle and i think thats cool. it makes the single a funny listening experience, like

can you show the settings on operator 2? :3 also why 2 carriers running into filter instead of 1?

sure this is op2. basically another sine wave but an octave up and a lil more squared.
the reason why i have 2 carriers is cus when i made this synth originally i had op1 as pure sine and op3 was more of a square wave because i wasnt doing the 2 basses thing yet. now that i do i could just remove it since op3 is basically a copy of op1 but its kinda same diff. either i keep 2 and the mix channel is a lil quieter or i have 1 and the mix channel is a little louder. usually i keep both enabled cus sometimes i like to put the two carrier's mod lfos slightly offset from one another or make one slightly more of a tri for sound depth/variation.

this is the filter i have onboard, i have the speed of the two carrier mod lfos and the filter cut lfo all controlled by the same automation clips so they're in sync

i like when dubstep gets kinda techno with it. lots of 2562's old stuff is kinda like that. i think this is partially what made dubstep really click for me (2562 was one of the first catalogs i dug thru), since i was a huge dub/minimal/hardgroove techno fan in highschool, so hearing aspects of those sounds find a home elsewhere was really cool to me. anyway this track is so nasty i think

its funny i never listened to dubstep at all when i was a kid and it was popular and when i got into it was largely coming from listening to garage/breakbeat so i've very little exposure to that stuf. its been cool to kinda see which artists from earlier waves of it kinda pioneered the sound that blew up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIpc817U_R4. i like the feeling of learning the history thru listening .

i was such a big innocent dubstep fan in my teens, first thing I wanted to say this thread was coki goblin, altho, i still appreciate it from a percussive aspect, i find it hard to get into now im older - im less enchanted by the wobbles. maybe i toasted out riding the high of drops when i was 20.

good morning heres a track by vaccine that i love very much. i love how crunchy her drums are but also how tranquil her compositions are. she was actually the first dubstep artist i started listening to, she was (RIP) married to ASC who i liked a lot of when i was listening to that minimal dnb /autonomic stuff a lot last year. actually its funny i didnt really appreciate that stuff much at the time, or i never felt like it clicked but now going back to it i feel like it makes a lot more sense. a lot of that scene has made dubstep too at points. in particular i really like instra:mental's dubstep stuff and ASC's stuff under intex systems
hey hey mommy's back with another vaccine trak. i had surgery today and i was listening to dubstep off painkillers for a few hrs and sounded so good... this track anaesthetic was the first joint i heard in a mix (her mix actually) and it blew my mind. i'd been djing various downtempo/idm genres for a while at 140 and i was always kinda searching across for tracks that had this melancholic/cold/ethereal vibe. when i heard this song i was like,"holy crap, this is everything ive been looking for all along". eventually i kinda pulled the thread to listening to more dubstep and its been so deep in my heart since. her music is really special to me, everytime ive spun another one of her singles it just feels like it adds a whole new dimension to her music.
anyway i rinsed all her stuff today cus the medical theme but also just felt like a treat. check it out. bass is subterranean on this one. hadal zone deep type ish. beautiful music. hope yall are well
